The Panasia group started its corporate journey around 20 years back. It started in the business of Guest Management Service, initially with a meager setup of 4 rooms, catering guests with only basic lodging facilities and bare minimum amenities. Today, the group boasts of 200 well furnished guest rooms fitted with all possible modern amenities in its multiple state of the art modern facilities, all located in and around Salt Lake, Sector V & Rajarhat-Newtown area, the business hub of Kolkata. It is now one of the more prominent players in the fast growing & thriving Hoteleering / Hospitality / Travel & Tourism industry in West Bengal.
 
Also, with the upsurge in the Indian economy over the last two decades, the promoters of Panasia Group have diversified their investments and business interests into other upcoming and developing sectors like Infrastructure and Manufacturing. Currently, the group is promoting and developing residential apartments equipped with all kinds of modern amenities and  world class business centers with built-in readymade office space for multiple customers, all in and around New Town, Rajarhat area, a part of the much coveted megacity project. In manufacturing, the group has already set up a modern and fully operational timber & branded ply board manufacturing unit in Habra, District of 24 Parganas (North), West Bengal, within 50 Km of the city of Kolkata. More such units are in the pipeline.

Recently, the Panasia Group has launched its learning and development arm, “Panasia Learning and Skills (P) Ltd.”, with the primary objective of creating a steady pipeline of skilled manpower for its in-house consumption, particularly in the areas of its own business interest, namely Construction, Retailing, Hospitality, Travel & Tourism and Sales. Enabled with a vast array of knowledge acquired over the past 20 years while managing many a critical business venture, the Panasia Group through its newly launched L&D wing, “Panasia Learning and Skills (P) Ltd.”, plans to provide high-end learning solutions to the corporates and play a major role in creating a steady supply of skilled manpower for the Indian Industry in general. Also, through the various skill-building programs, the company wants to contribute in a small way towards the giant cause of employing and vocationally skilling the Indian Youths from all sections of the society, across the decade, as envisaged by the doyens of the Indian Industry and the Political Leadership of the nation.

The Pitfalls

In its journey spanning the last two decades, the Panasia Group has grown manifold and has been able to successfully diversify its business interests into multiple areas; but the journey has not been without its pitfalls. One of the major hindrances and critical challenges faced has always been the acute dearth in supply of quality and skilled manpower. Quality of Human Resource has been quite rightly identified as the lifeblood of all successful modern-day organizations and the X factor in creating and controlling the competitive differences between organizations, separating the corporate giants from the minnows and differentiating the market leaders from the followers.
 
Fortunately, for the Indian Industry, the national government and the state governments have awakened to this problem and have jointly launched a mega initiative to vocationally skill and employ 30 crore Indian Youths nationally as well as globally by the year 2022. To achieve this mammoth target, the government at all levels (central, state, district & block) is soliciting participation from the private sector as well as the public sector, mainly in the PPP mode (Public – Private Partnership mode).

At one end, the organization aspires to provide end-to-end corporate learning & development solutions to the Indian Industry with the objective of positively impacting their business performance through enhanced employee productivity and effective talent transformation, at the other end the company wants to deliver employability linked effective educational and skill-building programs for the youths of the country, thus playing its humble part in fostering true and inclusive growth across the Indian Society.

Panasia Learning and Skills boast of a 40,000 sq. ft. state -of the- art learning facility (Center of Excellence) equipped with all modern amenities and learning supports located in the heart of Kolkata’s business hub, within 1 km of Sector – V, Salt Lake, and right inside Newtown, Rajarhat. Inspite of its physical proximity and geographical access to almost 100% of the corporates operating out of Kolkata by virtue of being located in the midst of the ever chaotic business district, the Center of Excellence is situated in a peaceful and tranquil oasis surrounded by artificial water bodies and enormous stretches of greenery creating a fantastic ambience for learning.
 
The Facility provides multiple well equipped classrooms fitted with ergonomically designed chairs and desks, air conditioners, white boards, LCD projectors and screens, sound systems, 24 hour power backup / generator, high volume data bandwidth, large monitors for conducting virtual classrooms, computers, separate 30 bedded air conditioned dormitories for male and female participants facilitating residential trainings, well equipped library, large and spacious canteen providing staple diet as well as ala carte menu at modest price, 24 hours housekeeping facility, landscaped gardens and various other necessary modern amenities. Despite the fact that the Indian economy has witnessed a considerable growth in the last two decades, this growth rate has not been uniform. Underemployment, low educational levels, a high rate of dropouts and lack of proper vocational training which can provide better employment opportunities, are still prevalent. The shortage of skilled workforce is evident from the discrepancies of demand and supply in the market. Thus the skill-building solutions / programs from Panasia Learning focuses almost entirely on building industry specific skills required at the entry level, primarily in the service sector.
